Last Day in Lhasa
On our last day in Lhasa, nothing was planned – a day, wild and relaxed, which we used to pick up a few souvenirs and soak in the atmosphere of Barkhor Square one last time, a contrast between farewell and enjoyment. I believe it was a Wednesday, when the Dalai Lama’s birthday was being celebrated – supposedly born on a Wednesday – which meant even more pilgrims filled the square, and the incense burners were lavishly stocked with fuel, raw and solemn.
A Final Evening
Needless to say what was on the menu that final evening – a spectacle of tradition and closure that rounded off our stay.
