From Nam Tso to Reting Monastery
After a cold night at Lake Nam Tso, we got up early in the morning to find a beautiful spot for sunrise – a start wild and challenging, with thin high-altitude air making the climb to the nearby mountain just before sunrise exhausting, a contrast between effort and reward. After a beautiful sunrise and a sparse breakfast, we continued to Reting Monastery (Radreng), raw and uplifting.
A Vast Monastery Complex
The monastery complex impressed with its vastness, as did the forest, which is unique in Tibet – a spectacle of nature and architecture. The night at the monastery was again cold, but our room next to the kitchen stayed warm – although by the next day all our clothes smelled like food, a moment of comfort and compromise.
