Samye Monastery
Before breakfast, we chuckled in surprise at the Olympic rings on the stadium in Tsetang – a moment wild and unexpected, before heading to Samye Monastery, a contrast between modernity and history. The journey was really cool: first a beautiful mountain pass, then a road through an impressive dune landscape leading to Samye, rough and fascinating.
A historic place
In the afternoon, we reached the beautiful monastery, allegedly the first built in Tibet around 775 – a spectacle of tradition and time that crowned the day.
