When we drove home at Christmas, we passed through a beautiful landscape full of frozen forests. Unfortunately I didn’t have the drone with me then, so yesterday I set off once more. Just before Stein am Rhein I spotted frozen treetops on a hill, drove there and unpacked the drone.
Ice and fog
From above, the forest showed itself in all its splendour: the frozen treetops glittered, banks of fog drifted just above, and on the ground old leaves added a few dabs of colour.
A spontaneous trip to the frozen forest
This spontaneous trip was worth it – pictures like these are only possible on a few days a year. Stein am Rhein lies where Lower Lake Constance flows into the High Rhine, roughly halfway between Schaffhausen and Konstanz; its medieval old town with its painted façades has survived to this day.
