Aerial Shots of Antigua (Guatemala) – Rooftops and Fuego Volcano
Our trip to Guatemala was almost a year ago. We celebrated the wedding of good friends in the beautiful colonial city of Antigua, spent five days there, strolled through colourful streets and enjoyed the time.
Mornings above the rooftops
Before breakfast I sent the drone up, and from above Antigua revealed itself surrounded by impressive volcanoes. The aerial shots show the colours of the rooftops in the morning light.
Fuego volcano
Fuego volcano, active for a long time, stole the show: every few minutes a mighty cloud of ash rose up, and down in the town you could hear it rumbling. Fuego stands around 16 kilometres west of Antigua and is almost constantly active, with small explosions every 15 to 20 minutes. Antigua itself was the capital of the Captaincy General of Guatemala from 1543 to 1773 and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.
