The fascinating landscape shots around Lake Constance have long been a source of inspiration for many photographers. I’ve also been captivated by the water patterns in Konstanz, between the harbor and the Rhine bridge, for quite some time. Especially in winter, when the water level drops and these structures become more visible, unique motifs emerge. When the Konstanz NUN magazine approached me a few weeks ago for photos, I finally had the chance to explore this special spot — fittingly for their theme “WOW,” and unfortunately also because we will be leaving Konstanz in a month.

The results were overwhelming: stunning landscapes with abstract shapes and a mysterious row of posts in the water, which might be part of an old harbor wall. After consulting the district office and the archaeological museum, it turned out these posts were previously unknown and most likely belong to the historic harbor wall of Konstanz. They’re estimated to be over 400 years old. This summer, scientists will take a closer look at these posts. I’m already excited to see the start of the project and the results of their research.

These fascinating landscape shots at Lake Constance don’t just show the beauty of nature but also the traces of the past. The combination of drone photography and archaeological discovery makes these images unique and opens up new perspectives on Konstanz and its history.
