Mount Everest, Rongpu Monastery, and Back to Gyantse
After a few weeks, I finally get to continue the travel blog from Tibet! After a beautiful night under the stars at the foot of Mount Everest, we got up early the next morning to witness the sunrise in front of the walls of Rongpu Monastery — the highest monastery in the world at 5,200 meters, a moment wild and majestic despite the cold, which was less windy than the previous evening, a contrast between frost and calm.
A surprising detail
After breakfast, we visited the old monastery where, to our surprise, we encountered a cuckoo clock — Daniel, being from the Black Forest, almost felt at home, a spectacle of tradition and belonging. Afterwards, we headed back towards Lhasa, with the first overnight stay in Gyantse, a closing full of travel impressions.
