Sailing Expedition in East Greenland 2/3
The night before, we marveled at the giant icebergs drifting near Teniteqilaq – a sight, wild and mesmerizing. So we decided to paddle into the bay by kayak the next morning before sunrise, an awe-inspiring moment that called to us.
Paddling in the Morning Light
Alone among stunning ice formations, in the finest light on calm waters, we paddled – the surface shimmering like a mirror in the early hours, a contrast between cold and clarity, raw and delicate. Back on board, Captain Siggi gave us a little scolding: we should’ve brought a rifle in case of a polar bear. Hmm… fair enough, next time we’ll know better.
Views and Onward Journey
After breakfast, we hiked through the village up a nearby mountain, where a spectacular view of the entire Sermilik Fjord awaited – a scene of vastness and grandeur. Then we continued under perfect sunshine through the fjord, past stunning ice formations toward the Knud Rasmussen Glacier – a dance between nature and adventure.
