From Xigaze to Shegar
Before continuing the drive from Xigaze towards Mount Everest, we visited the famous Tashilhunpo Monastery in the morning — a place wild and spiritual, today home to about 600 monks and the Tibetan monastery with the most religious activities, a contrast between tradition and life. Afterwards, we drove on to the small village of Shegar, at the edge of the Mount Everest (or Qomolangma, in Tibetan) National Park, rugged and remote.
A cold night
It was our first night without heating in a rather simple but clean accommodation — but in the morning, we could “draw” on the windows, frozen shut from the inside, a spectacle of cold and creativity.
