From Gyantse to Xigaze

After a night in Gyantse, we continued the next day towards Mount Everest with an overnight stay in Xigaze — a stop wild and refreshing, a contrast between travel and rest. We arrived in the town early in the afternoon and spent the day hiking the circular route around the Tashilhunpo Monastery and relaxing in the warm sunshine.

Sunset with a view

We enjoyed the sunset there, with a cool view over the valley and the monastery, while clouds and mountain landscapes were bathed in orange and red — a spectacle of light and color, rugged and impressive. The only thing that spoiled the view was the watery Lhasa brew they call beer down there.
