In the snowstorm, we reached the Hjalparfoss waterfall from Flúðir relatively well – a trek, wild and adventurous. After about a kilometer on foot through fresh snow, we stood before the waterfall, somehow small and charming, a contrast between expectation and modesty, rough and delicate.

A brief stop by basalt and snow

In summer, without snow, the scenery would surely be more impressive, yet the surrounding basalt rocks made the view beautiful even now, a spectacle of nature and stone. The photo stop was short, as a few kilometers further the road was completely snowed in – so we turned back toward the next stop, the famous Seljalandsfoss waterfall on the Ring Road.
