Travelblog Borneo & Bali

We woke up in the middle of Borneo’s jungle after three stopovers and far too little sleep – and there sat the orangutans of Tanjung Puting. Then came two weeks of rainforest off the tourist trail, in the village of Merabu and the Meratus Mountains, followed by snorkelling with mantas off Sangalaki. On the way to Bali an unplanned stop on Java gave us the temples of Prambanan. And on Bali itself, a week to catch our breath and my drone series over the rice terraces. Here are all my travel stories from Borneo, Java and Bali.

Java – Prambanan, Candi Sewu and Plaosan

After Borneo a week on Bali was on the plan, but awkward flight connections forced us into a stopover with an overnight stay in Yogyakarta on Java. We had actually wanted to go to the famous Borobudur temple, but a…

Bali – Canggu, Ubud and Uluwatu

After Borneo we went to Bali for a week: relaxing, enjoying the landscape and the good food, yoga for Luisa and a reunion with Nina and Antonio. For Luisa it was the first time; I had been here several times…

Bali – Aerial Views of Rice Terraces

When we were planning our trip to Borneo and Bali, I had an idea in my head: a series made only of aerial shots of rice terraces, “Portraits of Rice”. I have since taken my portrait site the-portraits.com offline for…
