Through Topes de Collantes to Trinidad
After a night in Santa Clara, we headed south by car the next day toward Trinidad, the colorful UNESCO World Heritage town — a destination, wild and vibrant. The drive through the Topes de Collantes National Park was no less impressive, with its beautiful green landscape and small villages, a contrast between nature and tranquility.
A detour full of discoveries
Instead of the direct route, we chose a small detour east of Topes de Collantes. One of the stops was Finca Guachinango, a charmingly restored farm now serving as a tourist restaurant — a suckling pig roasted over an open fire, but a cold beer attracted us more. After a brief pause, we continued to the Torre de Manaca, a tower offering magnificent views over the landscape south of Topes de Collantes and the surrounding sugar cane plantations, a spectacle of vastness and culture.
An abandoned detour
Shortly before Trinidad, the abandoned building of Ingenio Jesús de Nazareno de Buenavista on the left beckoned — an unavoidable detour, raw and mysterious. Shortly after sunset, we arrived in Trinidad and looked forward to a cozy evening with delicious food and beautiful music in the colorful streets, a moment of relaxation after an eventful day.
