From the Sierra Maestra to the Beaches of Cayo Coco
After the Sierra Maestra, the beautiful beaches of Cayo Coco were next on our itinerary — a change, wild and inviting. In between lay a long stretch from south to north through a very rural region where sugarcane plantations shape life, a contrast between mountain and plain.
A stop in Morón
Just before Cayo Coco, we stayed overnight in the small town of Morón, raw and tranquil. On Cayo Coco, large, expensive tourist hotels dominate — ones we were determined to avoid, a spectacle of choice and independence.
