Tsetang Yumbulakhang
The first evening in a “proper” Chinese city was somehow funny, but finding a restaurant with at least some photos on the menu proved complicated – a start, wild and unfamiliar, giving us at least a rough idea of what might end up on the plate, a contrast between curiosity and challenge. The next day, we headed to the Yumbulakhang Temple, which rises prominently on a higher ridge, visible from afar, rugged and imposing.
A historic view
According to legend, this is the oldest building in Tibet – its shape was especially impressive from above with the view into the valley, a spectacle of history and outlook. In the evening, we explored the small town itself, briefly visiting two temples that apparently still saw few tourists – a cool experience, full of discovery. Then the restaurant hunt began anew.
