After a day of relentless rain, we barely trusted the forecast promising clearer skies after 10 PM – a day, wild and doubtful. But as the first stars twinkled, we jumped into the car and headed to Jökulsárlón, a contrast between skepticism and hope.

A Dance of Lights

Along the way, the first northern lights appeared, and over the next three hours they came and went – a spectacle of movement and color, raw and captivating. The first northern lights shots were in the bag! P.S.: The orange glow behind the mountains at the glacier lagoon actually comes from the active Bárðarbunga volcano, adding an extra touch of drama.
