On the drive back from the Königssee we made a longer stop at the Eibsee at the foot of the Zugspitze; the drive there already offered lovely views of the Alps. We were lucky with the weather: the rain only set in when we were already back in the car heading for Lake Constance.
Once around the lake
We hiked once around the Eibsee, a lovely, flat loop with magnificent views of the Zugspitze and the lake. Because it was finally dry, I could also send the drone up and photograph the Eibsee from a bird’s-eye view. The loop is a good seven and a half kilometres long and takes about two hours. The lake lies at around 1,000 metres directly below the Zugspitze and was formed by a huge rockfall – from above you can best see how its eight small islands are scattered across the turquoise water.
